Official: Russian min to prolong green energy plan till 2035
MOSCOW, Jun 4 (PRIME) -- The Russian Energy Ministry plans to prolong the support of green energy until 2035 and will adjust it to cut costs, Deputy Minister Yury Manevich told PRIME in an interview released Tuesday.
“There is a support program until 2025 and we presume that we will support its prolongation until 2035. At the same time, we will absolutely adjust the features of this support: a new program must become less costly and must include product export goals,” Manevich said.
Higher than usual consumer prices ensure margins and return of investment in construction of electric power plants chosen at a tender now.
The official did not disclose the amount of planned investment in the program. The earlier discussed amount of green power plant capacity launch was up to 1 gigawatt per year but it is too early to assess properly, he said.
He also said that the Energy Ministry is considering launching industrial energy storage systems but might include them into green or small generation programmes.
According to the official, Russia is forced to import some of the equipment required for power production and one of the Energy Ministry’s goals is to ensure operations of the energy system.
“We must keep in mind the sequence of actions: until we have this equipment to keep the system working properly, we must continue exports. We oversee this together with the Industry and Trade Ministry to ensure a painless, gradual and balanced launch of Russia-made equipment,” he said.
